Editor in Chief & President

Michelle Mikhels 

Michelle is a senior from Brooklyn, New York studying Marketing at Stern with a double minor in Public Policy and Child & Adolescent Mental Health Studies. 
She is currently working as a Senior Research Assistant on a project regarding patent law and is involved in many other legal initiatives on campus including the the Stern Business and Law Association, the Undergraduate Law Society, and the NYU American Public Policy Review. 
She has been involved in ULR since her sophomore year and has previously held the positions of Writer, Business Associate, Business Director, and Vice President! In her free time, she does mixed martial arts and enjoys creating visual art such as drawings, paintings, and embroidery.

Alisha Dookhie 

Alisha is a senior from Queens, New York studying Politics and Economics at CAS. She joined ULR as a Print Writer during her freshman year and later became an Executive Editor. She now serves as Vice President. Alisha is also the Writing Director at the NYU American Public Policy Review. She has internship experience within politics, law, and financial services. Her legal interests include corporate law, employment law, and constitutional law. In her free time, she enjoys reading, gardening, and watching Broadway shows.

Secretary

Liyana Illyas

Liyana is a junior from New Jersey studying Politics and Journalism at CAS, with plans to attend law school after graduation. She has been involved in the ULR since last semester serving as an Associate Editor, and is excited to now serve as Secretary. Her legal interests include civil rights, media law, and advocacy for underrepresented communities. Outside the ULR, she previously served as Deputy News Editor for WSN and currently serves as Community Chair of NYU’s Muslim Students Association, Professional Chair of Phi Alpha Delta, and a NYU Resident Assistant. Previously, she interned for Judge Nadia Kahf at the New Jersey Superior Court. She is currently working as a Legal Intern at the Law Firm of Omar T. Mohammedi and as a Communications Intern for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, New York. In her free time, she enjoys singing, playing guitar and piano, reading, cooking, and going on sweet-treat runs with her friends.

Lauren Fakhoury

Lauren is a junior from Southern Illinois studying History and Economics with a minor in Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies. Beyond the ULR, she is a research assistant for a Journalism Department project focused on modern institutions’ ties to slavery, a writer for the American Public Policy Review, and a volunteer leader with Give Where You Live. She hopes to attend law school and become a public defender. In her free time, you can find her running, swimming, or trying to find the best cup of tea in nyc.

Violet Lahde

Violet is a sophomore from San Jose, California double majoring in English & American Literature and Politics. She began as an associate editor and member of the business team before becoming the Legal Public Square Director this year. Outside of the Undergraduate Law Review, she also serves on the Executive Board for NYU Mock Trial where she competes as a plaintiff and defense attorney on the national team. She is currently working as a Legal Intern for the District Attorney’s Office in Santa Clara County in the misdemeanor and felony division and plans to pursue her J.D. after graduating in hopes of working in criminal law as a public defender.

Events Director

Jasmine Sanchez

Jasmine is a senior from New York City studying politics and psychology with plans to attend law school after undergrad. This will be her second year as the Events Director of ULR and has previously served as a staff writer for the print publication. Jasmine is currently a research assistant with NYU's Social Justice Lab and recently pursued a legal recruiting internship at Ropes & Gray. Previously, she interned for an immigration attorney at the Law Office of Robert J. Maher and served as a research assistant for the Wesleyan Media Project. She is incredibly passionate about a vast array of legal sectors including corporate law, international human rights, and immigration and enjoys crocheting and reading in her free time.
